HOUSTON, TX (March, 2009) -- Dresser Masoneilan, an international leader in the design,
manufacture and support of process control valves and solutions, will display a comprehensive
partial stroke testing (PST) controller at the China International Petroleum and Petrochemical
Exhibition (CIPPE) in Beijing, March 19 - 21. During the show, customers will be able to
experience a total solution featuring Dresser Masoneilan’s Smart Valve Interface (SVI®) II
Emergency Shutdown Device (ESD) and ValVue® ESD diagnostic software. Optimized for use
in customer environments, the solution also includes the ValVue ESD Plant Resource Manager
(PRM™) Plug-In application, a version of ValVue ESD integrated with Yokogawa Electric
Corporation’s PRM supervisory system.
As an extension of Dresser Masoneilan’s Smart Technology digital process control product line,
the SVI II ESD partial stroke test controller facilitates automated testing of critical On/Off
shutdown valves to help operators meet stringent process safety requirements while
maintaining continuous uptime. Based on microprocessor technology, the system offers several
key advantages including automatic shutdown and PST reporting as well as automatic analysis
of ESD valve health.
The controller also delivers reduced installation costs. The diagnostics can be integrated with
any logic solver, and ESD and PST functionality is combined on a single wire pair. Furthermore,
the system is available in multiple interface configurations including SVI II ESD Analog Safety
Demand (ASD), SVI II ESD Discrete Safety Demand (DSD) and SVI II ESD Analog with Digital
Safety Demand A/DSD.
To provide reliable solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into customer applications,
Dresser Masoneilan has invested in an Integration Lab in the Dresser Masoneilan Shanghai
Software Development Center fully equipped with Yokogawa’s system solutions.
“Dresser Masoneilan realizes the challenges our customers face in sustaining and improving
plant integrity in a competitive market,” Sandro Esposito, product marketing manager, says.
“Our customers need safety systems with integrated emergency shutdown valve asset
management so they can comply with safety standards and maximize the safety integrity of their facilities and plants between shutdowns. To address this critical need, we combine our expertise in Smart solutions with the experience of logic solver providers and ON/OFF actuator and valve manufacturers. We create strategic partnerships that result in advanced solutions.”
Equipped with the full line of SVI II ESD interface models in addition to the Yokogawa
ProSafe®-RS safety system and the PRM version of ValVue software, the lab can support
comprehensive, integrated test scenarios. As a result, Dresser Masoneilan can obtain vital load
performance and interoperability data to optimize the reliability and safety of valve testing
systems.
