Dresser Masoneilan's Type 37/38 pneumatic spring diaphragm actuator is a high thrust actuator for use with reciprocating or linear stem motion control valves. The standard maximum stroke available is up to 4" (102mm), and can be provided in either air-to-extend or air-to-retract configuration depending on desired fail safe action.

Selection Criteria

The 37/88 Spring-Diaphragm actuator is the right choice for reciprocating and linear motion control valves where the valve stroke exceeds 2.5" (64mm) or if the thrust requirements exceed those available with the 87/88 Actuators. Selection of the proper size and spring-range is dependent upon valve type, operating service conditions and valve shut-off leakage class requirements.

Key features of the 37/38 Actuators include a flat diaphragm design, single spring construction and various spring range options as well as simple spud nut and stem connections. They also feature an optional side-mounted handwheel design and long stroke application range. There is an external spring adjustment element available for increased application flexibility and equipment fine tuning as required.
